- The undertaker must ensure that an interim reinstatement conforms to the prescribed standards until the permanent reinstatement is completed, and that the permanent reinstatement conforms to the prescribed standards throughout the guarantee period.

- The guarantee period begins on completion of the permanent reinstatement and runs for two years in general, or three years in the case of deep openings. Note that it is the completion of the permanent reinstatement, rather than the date of informing the authority that the reinstatement is completed, that triggers the start of the guarantee period.
