Traffic control near railway level crossings

Extreme care must be taken to ensure that stationary traffic never tails back across a railway level crossing when street works or road works are being carried out. See the Works over and under railways section of this Code for further details.

Caution: Under no circumstances should portable traffic signals be used at works that straddle a railway level crossing, nor to control road traffic within 50 metres of a level crossing equipped with wig-wag traffic signals.
